Dr. Jose Mauricio Prado, IMT Lucca Institute for Advanced Studies, Italy
Dr. Prado, a Brazilian national, is an assistant professor of economics at the IMT Lucca Institute for Advanced Studies in Italy. Prior to joining IMT, he obtained a PhD degree in Economics from the Stockholm University. During his doctoral studies, Dr. Prado was also a visiting student research collaborator at Princeton University and a visiting graduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States of America. In addition to his PhD, Dr. Prado holds a master’s degree from the University of Brasília and a bachelor’s degree from the University of São Paulo; both in economics.
His research deals with macroeconomic public policy in a broad sense. His particular research interests are: international economics, public finance, development, and political economy. Dr. Prado’s current research projects focus on the determinants of foreign-direct investment, the role of regulation on informality, the welfare costs of business cycles, the discounting of social projects, and the effect of fiscal fragmentation on economic development.
